Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

I don’t know how many years ago I first read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It was the first of her books that I did read and since then, I have read, no demolished each and every one of her published books. She absolutely is one of my all time favourite authors. Redeeming Love, along with Francine’s ‘Mark of the Lion’ series are books that notably increased my desire to read the Bible and to understand and dive deeper into its richness. And that are at the top of my favourite books of all time list!!

Francine dedicates the book to, ‘those who hurt and hunger’ and I think we can all raise our hand to that! It’s a story that’s a powerful retelling of Gomer and Hosea, from the Old Testament. It’s a story that demonstrates the unrelenting pursuit of the forgiving love of God who longs for relationship with His people. And not a relationship with any expectations other than to ‘be loved.’ It’s a story that cleverly highlights our internal barriers to this pure outpouring of love. It defies logic, language and our feeble attempts to explain it.

My final word of testament to the endearing and transforming nature of this book is to reveal to you, that after I had read it, so did my husband! Wild! Especially since I had never before seen him read a book and he has read very few since! Oh yeah, and he loved it!

It’s a book that once you’re into, you’ll struggle to put it down…

Please feel free to share your thoughts in our online community about this or any other book you’ve read. Bringing to life my dream of a book club. It’s different than I imagined being online but through the community we have a opportunity to be interactive and relational and to share with others some of our favourite reads.
